About Dr David M. Horan

Dr David Horan “Dr Dave” has worked in the Veterinary and Animal Care Industries for almost 40 years.

In his Veterinary Practice Career, he has worked in private practice all over the world – in the UK, South Africa and of course all over Australia. He has also worked for two Governments during Exotic Disease Outbreaks – F&MD Outbreak in the UK in 2001-2002 and the EIV Outbreak in NSW in 2006.

He is currently a practising Veterinary Surgeon in the Greater Sydney Region.

Dr Dave has also had a career as a Permanent Full Time Animal Care and Veterinary Lecturer for over 25 years in TAFE NSW where he set up the VN Training Centre at Richmond TAFE College in the mid 1990s. Here he instigated many innovative teaching and practical programs and teaching praxes.

In addition, he has had a career as a teacher of Science, Biology and Maths for almost 45 years.

He retired from this role in 2015 to set up the Animal Care Academy with the aim of providing hands-on practical courses for all pet owners, Veterinarians, VNs, Vet Technicians and Animal Care Workers.

For this work he was awarded the TAFE Medal:

“for service to students”

“I have always had a keen interest in teaching others about animals. and in being a Veterinary Surgeon.”

“Here I am aged 8 years teaching family and friends using “Patch” our pet dog as the subject.”

 

 

 

 

 

Since then he has developed a unique training platform specifically for Animal Care courses and publications. There are Professional Manuals on many animal topics and COVID19 Safe Professional Courses in diverse Topics such as Pet First Aid, Nutrition, Dog Care, Cat Care, Animal Structure & Function and more.
